How to Survive Wearing a Suit in the Summer Heat—like the Total Boss Lady You Are
Whether you’re a professional, an entrepreneur or just a general boss lady, wearing a suit just might land you the job/salary/respect you so deserve. It sounds all great and dandy—how putting on a power suit can instantly empower you— but tossing on a suit in the hottest month of the summer just doesn’t sound that appealing, which begs the question: How do you style summer suits for women? Welp, I’m here to explore.
Luckily, so many of our favorite brands respect the hustle and know just how important keeping a professional appearance is for many of us in today’s world. With that being said, they’re also creating summer-friendly suits—suits that are made of lightweight material, feature shorts instead of pants, or are made up of a color palette that will totally make a splash. It’s easier to find the perfect summer suit than you thought.
For me, personally, I’m in a position where I don’t have to wear a suit (I own my own business and work from home, score!). But when I need a pick-me-up or want to feel like a straight-up boss babe, suits are always my go-to. In typical millennial fashion, I decided to dress down these suits to show how they can be easily worn to work (duh, they’re suits), to a meeting, or even to drinks after work. Scroll through to see how I’m styling summer suits.
Blazer: Lulus | Pants: Lulus | Sandals: Lulus | Sunglasses: Lulus (similar) | Hat: Lack of Color
For evenings or summer days that aren’t too hot, this suit can surely spice things up. The bold red hue instantly screams SUMMER to me because I always gravitate towards brighter colors in the sunnier months. I got a little risqué with this look by totally ditching a top and opting for a long, layered necklace instead. Popped on a fun pair of snake print sandals and some red sunnies, and I was good to go.
Blazer: Missguided | Skirt: Missguided | Tank: Missguided | Hat: Lack of Color | Heels: Lulus
Pale blue has never really been my color, but after a good summer full of beach roasting, this tan made me fall deep in love with the color of this suit. While the skirt may be too short (depending on where you work), this blazer can be easily worn with a simple pair of high-waisted, tailored pants. I paired my set with a cherub tank—because what other way to make things look younger and more modern? And because I believe that a good wide-brim hat can complete nearly any look, I topped off my summer suit outfit with one from my favorite hat brand Lack of Color.
Blazer: PrettyLittleThing | Shorts: PrettyLittleThing | Shirt + Belt: thrifted, writer’s own | Sandals: Franco Sarto
When it’s just too damn hot outside, I see no reason not to sport some shorts. These lightweight corduroy shorts pair so well with the matching sage blazer—I didn’t think I’d ever want to take them off. I loved adding in this fun, vintage blouse for some seriously extra color to coordinate with the sandals. The best part? This suit can easily be worn in the spring as well because these pastels SCREAM April-appropriate.

16 Self-Tanner Alternatives For a Next-Level Glow Minus the Mitts
Though we tend to associate self-tanner with the summer season, I’m one of those glow-obsessed people who makes it a year-round priority. Because I’m basically militant about applying sunscreen every day (no exaggeration here), sunless tanning products have kept my summer bronze thriving in the months where my yellow undertones come out to play and I have to go H.A.M. with the bronzer. However, ask anyone who regularly self-tans what the most annoying part of the process is and they’ll say two words: those. gloves. Tanning mitts are undoubtedly a vibe killer, which is why I’m starting to get familiar with mess-free self-tanning alternatives.
In 2019, there are so many other ways besides a traditional self-tanner to get your glow on. If you’re mostly concerned about your face, there are primers that warm up the complexion. Should your body be the focus, body highlighters are crazy easy to apply. And if even rubbing something in isn’t your speed, tanning drops and face mists are more popular than ever. Ahead, 16 of the best alternatives for the face and body with mostly mess-free application.

17 Surprising Foods You Can Make in a Muffin Tin (Besides Muffins, Duh)
Almost every home cook owns a muffin tin. They’re a kitchen staple, and necessary for making cupcakes and muffins. But, are you really making the most of yours? Did you ever wonder if you could be doing a little bit more with your muffin tin? If you haven’t thought beyond basic baked goods, you’re going to want to try these out-of-the-box muffin tin recipes.
The truth is, your muffin tin can be used for almost anything that you’d normally bake in a larger baking dish or pan. Meatloaf works in a muffin tin, as do mini frittatas and individual lasagnas. The best part—aside from cuteness—is that the muffin tin maximizes exposed surface area, so every serving of whatever you make ends up with the caramelized edges that only exist on end pieces of anything baked in a larger dish.
Below, you’ll find muffin tin recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Pick one to make this week, and discover just how easy and fun it is to think outside the (muffin) box.
1. Cheesy Quinoa Chicken Enchilada Meatloaf Cups
The generous layer of cheese that tops these quinoa-filled meatloaf cups really puts the recipe over the edge.
2. Lasagna Cups
If you love the crispy corner pieces of traditional lasagna, you’ll love these lasagna cups.
3. Baked Oatmeal Cups
Sick of overnight oats, but want something you don’t have to cook in the morning? Bake a batch of oatmeal cups to reheat and eat all week.
4. Pizza Bombs
These pizza-stuffed dough balls are impossible not to like. You can fill them with whatever “toppings” you like, but pepperoni is always a good bet.
5. Bacon and Egg Cups
Bacon-wrapped eggs are the new breakfast standard. At least, they will be when you give them a try.
6. Meatloaf Cupcakes
Next time you feel like eating cupcakes for dinner, break out these mini meatloaf cupcakes.
7. Garlic Knots
If you prefer savory over sweet, add these garlic knots to your muffin tin’s to-do list.
8. Southwestern Chicken Cups
Tacos are great, but these southwestern chicken cups deliver the same flavor without all the cleanup.
9. Mini Walnut Apple Pies
Ever feel like you could eat a whole pie by yourself? When it comes to these mini apple pies, that’s definitely possible.
10. Loaded Mashed Potato Cups
Browned, crispy edges make these loaded mashed potato cups even better than regular mashed potatoes.
11. Muffin Tin Cheeseburgers
The novelty of these muffin tin cheeseburgers will make your weeknight dinner an extra-special affair.
12. Muffin Tin Chicken Pot Pies
Everyone knows that the best part of a potpie is the sauce-soaked crust. With these mini potpies, there’s more of that to go around.
13. Buffalo Chicken Cups
If you’re in need of an easy party appetizer, you can’t go wrong with Buffalo chicken cups.
14. Breakfast Egg Muffins
These egg muffins are the perfect weekday morning stand-in for an omelette. Meal prep a batch over the weekend and you’ll have a high-protein breakfast option in the fridge all week.
15. Crunchy Taco Cups
These taco cups are filled with meat, cheese, and veggies. Even better, they’re totally foolproof.
16. Cheesy Potato Gratin Cups
Serve these fancy gratin stacks as a dinner side dish, then reheat leftovers for breakfast to eat alongside an over-easy egg.
17. Chicken Bacon Alfredo Biscuits
Why settle for just a biscuit, when you can have a biscuit that oozes creamy chicken Alfredo?

Both Your In-Laws & Hipster House Guests Will be Impressed by These Pour Over Sets
While I may not be hip enough to enjoy it, I personally think that pour over coffee tastes so much better than the stuff my automatic coffee maker is capable of. Unfortunately, I can barely even master getting the ratio of water to coffee grinds right, let alone refining the art of the pour over method at home. Heck, I can’t even figure out how to use my French press. Fortunately, if you’re looking to entertain with a cup of joe or two, I’ve been on a quest to find the best pour over coffee maker sets, so you can trick your coffee connoisseur house guests into thinking you’re a bona fide barista without having to put in much effort to impress.
Sure, you’re still going to have to practice a couple of times before perfecting your craft — unless you’re just a natural — but these all-inclusive kits will make the process much more fool-proof than if you were left to your own devices. Whether you’re concerned about judgy friends and family members hating on your machine-brewed morning fuel, or you just really want to master the art of the pour over technique, I promise these kits will help you make a delicious cup — and look cool doing it.

Netflix’s Trailer For ‘Tall Girl’ Is Surprisingly Relatable
We love a super relatable story. Netflix’s Tall Girl trailer details prove it’s a new rom-com for our generation. The original romantic comedy stars Ava Michelle (Dance Moms) as Jodi, a 16-year-old who is 6’1”. She is quite visibly the tallest among her high school peers and feels slightly self-conscious about her height as she’s constantly reminded of it.
When a new exchange student, Stig (Luke Eisner) is admitted into her school, she is blown away by his dreamy looks and his height! Stig is the only person taller than her, and he seems to be the perfect match, but unfortunately, Jodi isn’t alone in her pursuit to win his attention.
With the help of her glamorous sister Harper (Sabrina Carpenter), Jodi gets the extreme makeover of a lifetime, which includes a shift both externally and internally. It seems Jodi will eventually learn that standing tall is not just a physical attribute, but also a well-esteemed personal trait.
The film also stars Griffin Gluck (American Vandal) who plays Jack, Anjelika Washington (Girl Meets World) who plays Fareeda and Paris Berelc (Alexa & Katie) who plays Liz.
In light of the trailer debut, Nzingha Stewart—who has directed episodes of Pretty Little Liars, Scandal and more—wrote in her Instagram caption: “Making this movie, I walked back through all my high school insecurities, and remembered how tough that age is, movies like this helped me then, excited to make this one for this generation. Please share with your daughters, nieces and all the young ladies in your life.”
Source: InstagramTall Girl might very well amuse teen viewers, but it also has a message for people of all ages and sizes, which is written across the movie poster: “When you don’t fit in, stand tall.”
Tall Girl is set to release September 13 on Netflix.

Save Up Your Points: KKW Beauty Is Coming to Ulta
If you buy all your Kylie Cosmetics at Ulta, you’re not alone. The big-box retailer is a favorite for its killer sales, rewards points system and mix of luxe and drugstore products. And now, Kylie Jenner’s sis is joining her brand. Yup, KKW Beauty is coming to Ulta and sooner than you might think. The brand announced the launch on Instagram and fans are already excited about not having to pay KKW Beauty shipping prices anymore (upwards of $10) and that they’ll be able to get their favorite products even faster.
We’re not sure exactly when KKW Beauty will hit Ulta stores but it’s likely it will go online first like many of Ulta’s brands do. It’s also possible the entire line won’t be there, as with Kylie Cosmetics. But at least the majority will be, and you’ll be able to go in and swatch and test products against your skin before you take the plunge to buy. It’s win-win.
Source: InstagramI’m especially hoping her buzzy collections will be there, like the Mattes Collection ($10-$295 at KKW Beauty). Those tend to sell out fast and having stock at Ulta will allow more people to pick it up. Her fragrances ($30-$110) will probably stay exclusive to the KKW Fragrance website.
We’ll update you as soon as we get word from the brand. In the meantime, check out all of Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty sales.
