According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, and although rare, breast cancer in men causes approximately 460 deaths each year. The good news is that more than 3.3 million cancer survivors are alive in the United States today, and we can keep fighting for a cure.

3 Ways to Wear Fashion Month’s Favorite Orange Sweater

Fashion week street style usually features a motley crew of current and upcoming trends. Bright colors and mismatched prints are in high demand—so are dramatic silhouettes, show-stopping accessories and sunglasses that double as conversation starters.

Style stars usually step out in pieces that are more unique than they are common—so imagine our surprise when we spotted the same statement-making orange sweater at not one, not two, but three fashion weeks this season.

The sweater—specifically, Joseph’s draped wool and cashmere-blend sweater ($795, Net-a-Porter)—made its first appearance at London Fashion Week, where buying director Lisa Aiken wore it with an equally bright orange skirt and chunky brown accessories.

Then, influencer Leonie Hanne wore it at Milan Fashion Week. Hanne paired it with a black knee-length skirt, orange shoes, orange-brown sunglasses and a baby blue geometric bag. Whereas Aiken let the sweater’s scarf drape over the front of her outfit, Hanne tossed hers behind.

Then, blogger Erika Boldrin wore the same sweater to Paris Fashion Week. Boldrin opted for a completely different look—pairing her sweater with jeans, tiny sunglasses, black pumps and a small bag.

The jeans’ closer featured a line of buttons that ran diagonally, but in the opposite direction of the buttons on the sweater—a contrast that was further exaggerated by the lines on Boldrin’s statement sunnies.

If this triple threat taught us anything, it’s that this surprisingly versatile sweater will be everywhere this fall. Oh, and that the age-old “we showed up to the party wearing the same dress” dilemma is nothing but a hackneyed misconception. How to Re-Create Emma Stone’s Beyond-Pretty, Flower-Braided Hair

Fall marks the bloom of roses—at least, on Emma Stone’s hair. The 29-year-old actor turned heads on Friday when she attended the premiere of her new film, The Favourite, in New York City. But it wasn’t Stone’s dress or her best friend Taylor Swift’s attendance that made people talk. It was her flower-braided hair, courtesy of her hairstylist, Mara Roszak.

For the red carpet, Roszak, who has worked with stars such as Michelle Dockery and Cara Delevingne, curled Stone’s hair in soft, romantic waves before stringing a thin wire with fresh red roses through the actor’s signature red locks. “I went to the flower shop, and I bought these little roses with little coloring stripes through it and she loved those,” Roszak tells StyleCaster. “I got a few different options for colors and we both chose the little red ones. I ended up roping these tiny bud roses all throughout her hair, so some of them were kind of dangling through her hair.”

As for where the idea came from, Roszak was inspired by Stone’s role in The Favourite, an 18th-century-set film in which the actor plays Duchess of Marlborough, Sarah Churchill,  one of Queen Anne’s closest friends. “The movie was always the inspiration. It takes place in a era that was elaborate and fancy. We wanted to have fun with this look while still being poised and sophisticated,” Roszak said.

But Roszak really breaks down the look best herself. Check out her how-to below.

1. Start with a beautiful blow out. I like to add a Leave in Treatment to the mid lengths and  ends of the hair because it gives a brightening glow and healthy strong hair. Apply Joico’s KPAK Color Therapy Multi Perfector Spray on damp towel dried hair. It will give you soft and tangle free hair.
2. Next, I used a volume foam on the roots of her hair just before we start the blow dry. I used Joico’s Power Whip Foam. I used a medium round brush twisting the brush to get a smooth look to the hair creating a great base for the style.
3. Then at this point I like to create a soft shield with Joico’s Humidity Blocker before curling the hair, this has a soft hold and locks out humidity.
4. I used two types of curling irons I used the 1 inch for the top section of her hair and 1.25  curling iron only for underneath her hair. This creates softer-looking waves with a variance in texture.
5. So after curling, I used a texture spray for volume, Joico’s Body Shake texture spray, then I took one side with less hair to get the hair off her back and pinned it up to create a little bit of detail on one side of her ear. So I pinned that back with some bobby pins and that’s when I cut some roses, leaving half inch of stem on each one, and then I wrapped them with a thin brown-colored hair wire – You can get these at any craft store, but I used these Japanese bobby pins but any kind of little wire works too. The bobby pin is just there to secure the flower to hair I pinned back a portion of her hair behind her ear with bobby pins. I then left 1/2 inch of at on each flower and wrapped them around the bobby pins.
6. I then finished the end result with the Joico’s Power Spray.

Meghan Markle Is Causing a Spike in This Surprising Beauty Product

It’s been almost a year since Meghan Markle announced her engagement to Prince Harry, but the Meghan Effect is as big as ever. According to the Daily Mail, the Duchess of Sussex is causing a huge rise in  drugstore brow pencils, but it’s not for the reason that one might think.

Instead of using the brow pencils to fill in their brows, customers are using the product to create freckles on their faces after being inspired by Markle’s signature sun-kissed marks. (The former Suits actor has talked about embracing her freckles many times and even wore a sheer foundation at her wedding in May to highlight them.)

The information comes from a recent report by Superdrug, one of the biggest drugstore chains in the United Kingdom. But the Markle Effect doesn’t end with brow pencils. Per Superdrug’s report, the duchess is also causing a rise in sheer concealers and natural-looking nail polishes.

The concealers should be a no-brainer as Markle is known for her fresh-faced looks, which highlight her freckles through a sheer coverage. But the nail polishes are a recent trend of the royal’s. Since becoming a member of the British royal family, Markle has been wearing natural-looking nail polishes, such as pale pinks and whites, to abide to the the family’s tradition, which prohibits loud, non-natural-looking colors, such as reds of yellows.

“Meghan Markle is known for her effortless and minimalist makeup look which is driving sales of concealers, nail polish and even brow pencils,” Sarah Gardner, Superdrug’s Head of Beauty, told the Daily Mail. “The Duchess of Sussex portrays a more attainable and natural beauty which is causing our customers nationwide to snap up these beauty items to replicate her look.”

Gardner adds, “For the first time concealers are outperforming beauty staple foundations proving that Brits are opting for a more understated look in comparison to the heavily contoured looks sported by the biggest reality stars on social media.”

Markle follows in the footsteps of her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, who inspired an increase in the sale of hairnets in February. What’s the next trend to benefit from the Markle Effect? Messy buns? Cross-body bags? Only time will tell.

Milan served as a departure from this transitional norm, pushing the fashion needle toward something bolder and brighter. Looks sat at the intersection of office-appropriate ensembles and straight-up streetwear—a juxtaposition that created sartorial drama of the highest degree.

The month closed out in Paris, where street style felt like all of these things at once. New York’s saturated palette, tempered by fall textures. London’s layers lightened up in the surprisingly warm late September weather. And Milan’s avant-garde aesthetic made more casual, effortless and everyday.
