8 Foolproof Tips for Barely-There Makeup That Looks Effortless

Everyone wants the “no-makeup” look. Surprisingly, getting that “I woke up like this” face can take a lot more work. Unless you’re Beyoncé or Lili Reinhart. They’re just gifted. Finding the right products to wear when you’re going for natural-looking makeup can be more complex than you think. You don’t want anything too cakey, too bright, or too dark. You can’t go too heavy on the contour, either. Basically, you don’t want your makeup to be noticeable enough that you’re getting complimented on your shade of lipstick. The “natural” look does indeed require some makeup application—and some skill, too. The good news is that it shouldn’t take as much time, especially if you have a many-step makeup routine.

For starters, we always recommend wearing colors close to your natural skin tone, or ones that enhance it. You don’t want a situation where your face looks like it’s a different shade than your neck. You should have a trusted concealer and a light-weight foundation, preferably powder. When it comes to eye makeup, it should also be subtle—you’re going to need to leave the eyeliner in your cosmetics bag for this look.

Below are more beginner-friendly tips and tricks along with some of our favorite beauty products for getting your no-makeup look just right.

Our mission at STYLECASTER is to bring style to the people, and we only feature products we think you’ll love as much as we do. Please note that if you purchase something by clicking on a link within this story, we may receive a small commission of the sale.

Moisturize First

Creating a clean base for your makeup is very important. After washing your face, moisturizer benefits your skin by hydrating and promoting anti-aging benefits. By bathing your skin in nutrients before applying coverage, you’re creating a smoother palette that your foundation or concealer can seamlessly blend into.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

The Ordinary.

cerave facial moisturizing lotion

CeraVe.

Buy: CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion $11.89

Keep Your Coverage Minimal

Erase dark circles, fine lines, or blemishes with a medium coverage concealer. This will disguise imperfections and leave your skin looking flawless, or in other words—like you found a secretly amazing Instagram filter for your selfie.

NARS Mini Radiant Creamy Concealer

NARS.

Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer

Benefit Cosmetics.

Stick to powder or light foundation

When your goal is a barely-there finish, we recommend using a powder or an airy liquid foundation. Thick, cakey makeup doesn’t exactly support the illusion we’re going for. Be sure to apply evenly with a brush or sponge for an even, non-streaky, finish.

bareMinerals ORIGINAL Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15

bareMinerals.

Covergirl Clean Fresh Skin Milk

Covergirl.

Buy: Covergirl, Clean Fresh Skin Milk Foundation $9.98

Keep your blush subtle

Cream blushes work well because you can build and blend as much as you like for dramatic or subtle color payoff. Depending on your skin color, blush colors will vary, but peaches tend to look great on everyone. Apply to the natural cheekbone line where pink undertones normally show. For most of us, that’s just under the outside of the eye and going toward the temple.

MILK MAKEUP Glow Oil Lip + Cheek

MILK MAKEUP.

Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush

Fenty Beauty.

Opt for neutral shadows

Sweep a neutral color over your lids for a muted but beautiful eye moment. Choose a color that is just a shade or two darker than your skin tone; anything too dark will take you into dramatic territory.

Naked 3

Ulta.

NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette

NYX Cosmetics.

Buy: NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Ultimate Shadow Palette $14.04

Find your favorite nude lip color

When choosing a lip color, go for the light pinks, peaches, and sand colors. You could also nix the lipstick and swipe on a little gloss for an even more pared-down pout.

NYX Butter Gloss on Amazon

NYX.

Buy: NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Butter Gloss $3.99
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizing Lip Gloss

Neutrogena.

Buy: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizing Lip Gloss $7.12

Swipe on just a little mascara (if any).

A thin layer of mascara is all you need. You still want your eyes to stand out, so if you have light lashes, a layer of mascara may be a good idea. If you naturally have dark, full lashes you might want to skip altogether.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Washable Mascara

Maybelline.

Buy: Maybelline Lash Sensational Washable Mascara $6
L'Oreal Bambi Eye Mascara

L’Oreal.

Buy: L'Oreal Paris Bambi Eye Washable Mascara $9.97

Step away from the liner

While eyeliner is great for a dramatic eye, it doesn’t fit with the natural makeup look. Don’t apply any eyeliner on the top or bottom. Not only will your face look naturally stunning but you’ll love how easy taking off your makeup is!

Justin & Hailey Bieber Can’t Get Enough Of These Chic, Affordable Face Masks

If you told me in 2019 that I’d be—once again—writing about Justin and Hailey Bieber’s street style in 2020, I wouldn’t have batted an eye. But if you told me that I’d be talking about Justin and Hailey Bieber’s face masks, I’d probably have done a sitcom-inspired spit take. The fact of the matter is, we had no idea we’d all be styling protective face masks with our cutest outfits this year. Yet, here we are, working to make masks a part of our daily lives—without sacrificing style.

When it comes to masks, Justin and Hailey Bieber have their look down pat. I didn’t think anyone could have a signature mask style, but the Biebers definitely do. The couple typically sports either a black or white face mask, along with their can’t-miss street style looks—some sort of Drew or Yeezy ensemble for Justin and usually a casual-but-cool denim outfit for Hailey.

When you look closely at their ‘fits while out and about, though, you’ll notice that both Justin and Hailey seem to always wear face masks from the same place. (We stan a consistent couple!) I did the zooming in for you and discovered that their masks are from evolvetogether—a brand that makes chic and affordable disposable face masks. And yes, this means that you can shop them for yourself to get the look.

STYLECASTER | Justin and Hailey Bieber Face Masks

Rachpoot/MEGA.

Though there are now plenty of fun, patterned and reusable masks on the market, occasionally you just need a classic solid color (Black and white go with everything!) and a pack of disposable masks you can throw away after they’ve been worn. We’ve all been testing out different masks to find what works best for us, and sometimes that means keeping a stockpile of both reusable cloth face masks and disposable ones. Yes, reusable face masks are important to have as a sustainable option, but these disposable evolvetogether masks are the next best thing—and have a bit more protection than some cloth masks.

Our mission at STYLECASTER is to bring style to the people, and we only feature products we think you’ll love as much as we do. Please note that if you purchase something by clicking on a link within this story, we may receive a small commission of the sale.

The Biebers are seen wearing the black iteration of the evolvetogether masks quite often—and the brand just released a new version that’s definitely worth snagging this fall. The I Am a Voter face masks (which come in a pack of seven, by the way) will help you remind the world that you use your power to vote, and you’re not afraid to encourage others to do the same. This particular mask also features the coordinates of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the birthplace of democracy. Geographical nerds unite!

APEX/MEGA.

Of course, sometimes Hailey Bieber will slip on something a little different—including the evolvetogether mask in white. These NYC face masks are marked with the global coordinates of New York City. The brand wants it to serve as a reminder that we’re all connected no matter where we live. Plus, you can’t deny that the white goes perfectly with Hailey’s blazer and denim cut-offs look. Even masked up, she’s still a street style queen.

In addition to the chic exterior, the evolvetogether face masks are medical-grade. (!!) They feature three layers with extra filtration, a hidden nose bridge (for comfort!) and are shipped in biodegradable and recyclable packaging.

If neither white nor black is your thing, the Amazonia face mask is here to please. This set of seven is marked with the coordinates of the Amazon River—reminding us all to protect one of Earth’s greatest resources. In fact, for each purchased, evolvetogether donates masks and proceeds to One Tree Planted, to plant trees and protect volunteers.

Each set of masks—which are available in packs of 30 as well as seven, FYI—also come with a sustainable mask keeper, so you can have all your masks at-hand without having to stuff them into a plastic bag or let them float around the bottom of your purse. They’re a total game-changer and approved by Justin and Hailey Bieber—and that’s good enough for me!

Angelina Jolie’s Former Co-Star Will Testify in Custody Trial With Brad Pitt Following His Request

Court documents now reveal that Angelina Jolie’s co-star will testify in her custody trial with Brad Pitt, reports Entertainment Tonight. A witness list, originally filed on September 21, was obtained by the outlet on October 1—just days ahead of Pitt and Jolie’s upcoming trial date of October 5—confirming earlier rumors surrounding Pitt’s witness.

As for the witness in question, Pitt, 56, reportedly called upon Jillian Armenante, 52, to testify on his behalf. In 1999, Armenante starred as Cynthia Crowley alongside Jolie, now 45, in Girl Interrupted. The actresses later shared another co-starring run in 2007 for the film A Mighty Heart. Pitt’s 21-person witness list reveals that Armenante is expected to testify “regarding her interactions and communications with and observations of Petitioner [Jolie], Respondent [Pitt] and/or the children,” reports ET. According to the outlet, Pitt’s list also includes “multiple psychologists.” Meanwhile, Jolie’s list only includes seven names—all of whom reportedly overlap with Pitt’s list, including domestic violence speaker Alyce LaViolette.

News of Armenante’s upcoming testimony is just the latest development in Pitt and Jolie’s complicated custody trial. The pair share six children: Maddox, 19, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 14, and 12-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. Pitt and Jolie have been working on co-parenting ever since The Maleficent star filed for divorce in September 2016, following an alleged altercation between Pitt and his eldest son, Maddox. They were married for just over two years before Jolie’s filing, although their relationship officially began in 2004.

All these years later, however, tensions continue to rise over their children’s custody trial. In August, Jolie delayed their originally scheduled court date after she requested that the judge overseeing her and her estranged husband’s case, Judge John W. Ourderkirk, be replaced due to his past relationship with Pitt’s attorney, Anne C. Kiley. A source at the time told Us Weekly that Pitt believed Jolie has “gone way too far” with their divorce, and had no other choice but to “fight back” against her motion.

His court documents at the time claimed that Jolie’s request would do nothing but “hurt” their children. “Jolie’s abrupt cry of judicial bias reeks of bad faith and desperation, not to mention careless disregard for the procedural rules intended to root out legitimately conflicted judicial officers,” read the court documents, originally obtained by HollywoodLife.

ET reports their rescheduled trial is set to take place from October 5 to October 21.

What Scary Halloween Monster You Are, Based On Your Myers-Briggs Type

Well, we are deep into the Spooky Season, and you’ve gathered around my, uh, large cauldron (?) for one express purpose. What if I told you I had a list of all—that’s right, all of em!—the Myers-Briggs types as Halloween monsters? After all, what could be ~spookier~ than that level of sheer self-awareness? And what is a truer form of knowing oneself than the kind that comes from being assigned to one of 16 possible MBTI creatures of the night? In terms of tricks and treats, this kind of knowledge is a major treat, so you’re welcome in advance.

Halloween is the perfect time to look within and make plans with your inner monster.  Should you spend your October 31 building your own best friend out of spare parts, howling at the moon or biting your neighbors?* There’s literally endless (OK, there’s 16) paths, and only one way to find out which is yours to take.

Allow me to set the scene. Crows begin to flock all around us while other seasonally-appropriate creatures do their various things as I unfold my scroll (Dusty tome? Ancient text? Use your imagination.) of personality test-based soothsayings. I have looked deep into your consciousness and assigned you a dark and wonderful Halloween monster based on my findings. Now, all you need to do is find the perfect monster Halloween costume to make my prediction a reality. The question is: Are you brave enough to read on?

*DISCLAIMER: Please do NOT bite your neighbors, regardless of what your Myers-Briggs Halloween monster is.

Our mission at STYLECASTER is to bring style to the people, and we only feature products we think you’ll love as much as we do. Please note that if you purchase something by clicking on a link within this story, we may receive a small commission of the sale.

ENTJ: Dracula

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

You’re charismatic, domineering and known to collect followers. Capes and castles are definitely suited to your aesthetic, and God help anyone who disturbs your fucking slumber. Don’t forget to buy some faux fangs for this look—after all, you’ll really want to ~sink your teeth into~ the vampire vibes.

INTJ: Dr. Frankenstein

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

You’re happiest when you’re locked in your lab doing experiments, reading dusty tomes or anything else that doesn’t involve directly engaging with people. You’re also never happier than when you get to point out that, technically, you are Frankenstein and the other one is your monster.

ENTP: Werewolf

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

It’s hard to predict what form you’re going to be in at any given time—you’ve definitely been described as a “wild card” before, and randomly becoming a different species definitely qualifies as that. It’s always a toss-up whether you’ll be chilling with your pack or going all lone wolf for the night. Just proceed with caution if you commit to werewolf as your Halloween costume, since you don’t want people to mistake you for a Furry (or do you?).

INTP: Mummy

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

You’re pretty happy getting to ruminate in your sarcophagus, pondering any mistakes you made while ruling over Ancient Egypt and contemplating how you can do better the next time someone activates your cursed scarab amulet and brings your reign of terror back upon the waking world.

ENFJ: The Headless Horseman

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

Sure, there’s your history as an animal lover and your zest for getting into the spirit of #thotautumn, but above all else, you’re the Headless Horseman because of your irrepressible love of Teaching Someone a Lesson.

INFJ: Frankenstein’s Monster

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

You’re big on internal processing and not big on talking. Spend a lot of time reflecting on all the personality traits you’ve picked up and stitched on, and also can we talk about the record-breaking levels of existential dread?? If you’re wanting to actually look the part for this costume, invest in some Halloween face paint—but get the good stuff so you don’t have monster stains on your skin the next morning.

INFP: Sheet Ghost

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

You’re hard to spot when you want to be. A big lover of nostalgia and melancholy, you’ve definitely been described as either floaty or vague. This is also the easiest costume to pull off for your friend’s Halloween party. Literally, just wear a sheet.

ESTJ: Zombie

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

Look: Above all else, you love getting out of the house, meeting new people and organizing a crowd with a singular mission—and isn’t that just what a zombie is?

ISTJ: Killer Robot

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

You’re pragmatic, great with objectively assessing situations, and you love when you can neatly carry out one of your prefabricated functions. You also have more gadgets on you at all times than anyone could possibly imagine.

ESTP: Boogeyman

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

You’ve put a lot of effort into Spreading Your Brand, and you rely pretty much 95% on your reputation preceding you. However, you’re also never opposed to jumping out at someone and shouting, “Boo!” if it comes down to it.

ISTP: Invisible Man

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

You will defy definition at every turn, eavesdrop on every conversation you can and will absolutely never stop using your pathological ambiguity to get away with bits.

ESFJ: Unfinished Business Ghost

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

Okay, I know I, technically, already did ghosts, but this is specific. Look deep within yourself. You know there are some things on your to-do list tonight that you’d defy death to get done.

ISFJ: Little Green Man

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

You’re famously elusive, leaving behind only rumors that you’ve ever appeared at a function, and you have a hard time showing up to take credit for the work you do (meaning it usually gets blamed on a weather balloon). Grab the green face paint and fully commit.

ESFP: Killer Clown

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

Look, above all else, you’re an entertainer. And whether the outlet is doing capers for the crowds at a circus, or, yeah, sure, appearing at the edge of the woods with a chainsaw and suddenly breaking into a run, you’re going to do what you do best: COMMIT. Don’t forget your red clown nose for the ~full aesthetic~.

ISFP: Swamp Thing

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

You love nothing more than getting all cozy in the swamp that you’ve painstakingly curated to fit your aesthetic, and you will scare away as many horny teens as it takes to achieve maximum coziness.

ENFP: Banshee

STYLECASTER | Meyers Briggs Types as Halloween Costumes

Adobe. Design: Bella Gerard/STYLECASTER.

You’ve probably heard that you spend life floating a few feet above reality, but in this case it’s more like… swooping. You’re also pretty vocal about your feelings, including in particular these very strong feelings you have that people should know exactly when they’re going to die, and they’re best off hearing it from your haunting screams.

BTS’ New Album Name ‘BE’ Has an Inspiring Meaning & ARMYs Can’t Stop Talking About It

Ever since the Bangtan Boys announced their latest album title, ARMYs have been curious about BTS’ BE meaning. So far, fans know that BE marks the group’s second album in 2020 after Map of the Soul: 7 dropped in February. Meanwhile, BTS’ new album BE is set to release on November 20—which can’t come soon enough! But there’s one thing ARMYs have been doing to pass the time, and that’s figuring out just what BTS’ BE album title really means.

When Big Hit Entertainment announced BTS’ new album on September 27, their statement included a pretty major hint at what BE might stand for. “BE (Deluxe Edition) contains the most “BTS-esque” music yet,” Big Hit wrote. “The latest story from BTS begins by declaring that “even in the face of this new normality, our life goes on” and imparts a message of healing to fans and to the world.”

ARMYs have since picked up on Big Hit’s use of the phrase “BTS-esque.” While this could, quite literally, be represented by BE as an acronym, it’s worth noting that the press release was also translated as “BTS-ish” in places like Variety—so this doesn’t seem like the album title’s full meaning. But it does point ARMYs in the right direction: If BTS’ BE is all about the boys sharing the music that is most representative of who they really are, then it’s say to safe there’s a message of being yourself when it comes to the album’s title.

Others have theorized that BTS’ BE also works as a universal opening statement for fans. As Twitter user @iIlejeons writes, “be means to exist, to live, be means to happen, be means to continue, be means to come to; belonging.” Yet there are other ARMYs who believe BTS’ new album is following in the thematic footsteps of the MOTS series. For these fans, the “E” in BE might stand for “eternal,” meaning that BTS’ album title represents the phrase “Be Eternal.”

https://twitter.com/joe_bangtan/status/1310236065391763464?s=20

As for what BTS has to say about the album, the boys spoke to Jimmy Kimmel on the third night of BTS Week on Jimmy Kimmel Live! about its themes. “The album mainly carries the grief, happiness and other feelings we have now as they are, so I hope you can count on that,” Jimin shared. Jimin added, “The album has many tracks that are as good as ‘Dynamite,’ so I hope many of them can rank in the Billboard Hot 100.”
