I Totally Thought Margot Robbie Was Wearing Arm Socks To The Golden Globes

These days, award show fashion feels like a distant memory. With most shows going virtual due to pandemic precautions (which, of course, are important and necessary) it feels like I’ll never get to watch a pre-show red carpet again. That said, this year’s Golden Globes did have a few live presenters, and Margot Robbie’s look was so good, I’m willing to give her her very own Best Dressed list.

With the nominees forced to stay home during the night’s celebrations, it was up to the Golden Globes’ hosts and presenters to provide all the fashion fodder. For this reason, the Globes rounded up some of Hollywood’s most notable fashion players to present, from Kate Hudson to Cynthia Erivo to our very own Margot Robbie.

In the past, Robbie has won two Golden Globes: Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for Bombshell in 2020, and Best Actress In a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture for I, Tonya in 2018. Tonight, though, she took to the stage to present an award to someone else—although in my opinion, she was still the big winner of the night. Her look deserved all the awards!

Always impeccably dressed, Robbie arrived at the Globes wearing a dress from the Chanel Spring/Summer 2021 runway. The look was a black gown with ditsy white floral print that gave a polka-dotty look from far away, and the silhouette was especially unique, with a tiered skirt, high leg slit, black belt to cinch the waist, ruffled neckline and both spaghetti straps and off-the-shoulder long sleeves that kind of remind me of the arm socks I used to wear from Limited Too in my youth. But, like, in a chic way. Her glam featured super minimal eye makeup and dewy, and her iconic bouncy blonde locks were worn short in casual waves. Her side part may not be Gen Z-approved, but it looked beautiful.

Pun tied to last year’s win intended, Robbie looked like a total bombshell. And good thing, too, because her 2020 Golden Globes look was kind of a letdown. Her beaded Chanel bustier—which, apparently, took 225 hours to make—didn’t really do it for me, especially paired with a simple white satin skirt. I don’t want to be a hater because she’s served so many fire looks in the past, but that one just didn’t ~wow~ me. You know?

That said, it looks like Robbie has redeemed herself with this year’s slay and I couldn’t be happier about it. Long live my fave blonde fashionista!

Promising Young Woman is the splashy directorial debut of Emerald Fennell. She wrote for the series Killing Eve, so it’s not surprising that she navigates dark comedy and difficult subjects deftly. The Crown fans might also recognize Fennell, because she played Camilla Parker Bowles. The movie is produced by Margot Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap Entertainment. LuckyChap has also produced I, Tonya and Birds of Prey.

There are plenty of outrageous jokes and encounters with unknowing real-life political figures in this sequel, which is all you can expect. Collins, stars in Netflix’s Emily in Paris, confirmed her engagement to McDowell in September 2020 with an Instagram post of her showing off her ring after McDowell proposed to her during a road trip in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

In an interview with Byrdie in November 2020, Collins revealed why McDowell proposed to her during a road trip, which was a tradition they started during the current health crisis. “You’re literally breathing in clean air,” she said. “You’re not feeling at a loss of creativity and you’re doing things with your hands and getting outside and building fires, and feeling really at peace in a time when there’s just been so much darkness.”

Collins revealed that McDowell proposed to her while they were on the road between Sedona and Santa Fe. She described the proposal as “a surreal moment that you just replay over and over in your head.” Though their engagement came after only one year, Collins confessed that she knew immediately McDowell was The One. “All my friends joked with me at first,” she said. “They’re like, ‘How can you know’ I’m like, ‘I know. I just know.’”

Chadwick Boseman Secretly Married His Wife Months Before His Death—Here’s What to Know About Her

Since his death, fans have wanted to know more about Chadwick Boseman‘s wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, and what their relationship was like before he passed.

Boseman, who has starred in movies like Black Panther, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and 21 Bridges, died on August 28, 2020, in his home in Los Angeles after a four-year battle with colon cancer. His family confirmed his death in a post on his Instagram at the time. “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.⁣ ⁣ Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV,” the statement read. “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.”

The statement continued,⁣ “It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. ⁣ He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

Boseman is survived by his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, whom he married less than a year before his death. According to CNBC, Boseman didn’t leave a will. Ledward has since filed probate documents to be an administrator with limited authority over part of Boseman’s estate, which is estimated at $939,000. As CNBC notes, this number isn’t all of Boseman’s estate as his assets are subject to probate, the legal process of administering someone’s estate after death through court intervention. CNBC reports that other accounts, such as life insurance, qualified retirement accounts like 401(k) plans and individual retirement accounts, may also be passed down to a beneficiary. According to the site, as of 2020, up to $11.58 million per person can be passed on tax-free to heirs.

In January 2021, Ledward gave an emotional speech in honor of her late husband as she accepted the Actor Tribute award for him at the Gotham Awards. “As an artist, an actor, and a person, Chad made a practice of telling the truth,” she said. “He is the most honest person I’ve ever met…because he didn’t just stop at speaking the truth. He actively searched for it in himself, in those around him and in the moment.”

She continued, “The truth can be a very easy thing for the self to avoid, but if one does not live in truth, then it’s impossible to live in line with the divine purpose for your life..and so it became how he lived his life, day in and out. Imperfect but determined. He was blessed to live many lives in his concentrated life. He harnessed the power of letting go and letting God’s love shine through. Thank you for giving Chad these gifts.
