Holiday Outfit Color Combos That Are Just Festive Enough—And How To Shop Them

I feel like on some level, everyone has trouble finding the perfect festive outfit for the holidays. And while I would prefer that it was sartorially acceptable for me, a 27-year-old adult woman, to show up to a soiree in my Christmas teddy bear sweatshirt that my grandma once handed down to me (Yes, this is a real sweatshirt, and yes, I wear it all the time.), it’s just not going to happen. Putting together a festive holiday outfit isn’t as daunting as a task as it might seem, though. In fact, there are actually myriad holiday outfit color combos that will do the trick—you just have to add a little bit of festive flavor. Whether you’re headed to a holiday office party or just want to envelop yourself in the vibe of the holidays, there’s a holiday color combination calling your name (with some jingle bells in the background, probably).

Of course, you can just go ahead and don red and green (and you’ll see a very street style-approved way of doing that below), but there are also so many other color combinations that will give your outfit a festive spirit. You do not have to go all the way with your holiday ensembles if you don’t want to. A little touch of festivity here and there can be the perfect way to keep your own personal style while adhering to the magical feelings of the holidays.

Below, you’ll find 10 different holiday outfit color combinations (Yes, including red and green)—and ways to shop all of them. These chic street style outfits from fashion-forward influencers are all very different, sure, but they do have one thing in common: Each of the ensembles is perfect for the holidays. Some are more obviously holiday-inspired, while others you could wear pretty much any time of year. However you choose to rock these color combos, though, you’re sure to have just the right amount of holiday spirit.

The Classic Red & Green

While there are plenty of ways to dress for the holidays that don’t necessarily including pairing red and green together, it’s still a classic—and deserves a place in this round-up. Rather than pairing red pants with a green top, though, try something fun, like a red and green plaid.

Take your favorite red pieces and add a little brown (We love a faux fur coat for this!), then finish the look off with just a hint of pink. The bold red will stay the focal point of your ensemble, but the brown and pink will tone it down just a bit.

Pink and green was one of my favorite color combinations as a tween, and it actually works really well for the holidays. If you still feel too summery, you can always add in a deeper green or red accessory to offset the lighter hues.
