I know it’s literally the middle of summer, but I think it’s time that we start talking about shoe trends for fall. I was all about my puffy sandals and flared heels a few months ago, but I am 100 percent ready to style some brand-new platform boots and retro-feeling clogs. Can you blame me? When you’re a shopaholic like I am, with a new season comes an entirely new shoe wardrobe.
First off, a pair of sneakers will always be in my rotation and I’m obsessing over so! many! new! colorways for the season ahead. Ditch your white Air Force 1s once and for all and dive into exciting silhouettes and color-blocked kicks so bold, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without.
I can’t possibly forget to hype up the platform heels that I’ve been seeing on runways and social media alike. 2021 is truly shaping up to be the year of maximalist accessories—first, it was our beaded jewelry and now our shoes are getting an over-the-top upgrade, too! The chunkier heels also means that they’ll be more comfortable in the long run, so this is truly a trend worth getting behind.
If you’re ready to invest in your footwear for fall 2021, read on for the aforementioned top trends and more, plus the shoes I’ve already added to my cart from a bunch of my favorite sites like QVC and Nordstrom. Here’s to a new season, new trends and some new opportunities to actually wear these shoes outside of my apartment.

Quirky Clogs
Designer Victor Glemaud showed wooden-soled clogs with a furry trim on the runway, but this trend is mostly inspired by the dozens of fashionistas on my For You Page convincing me that wooden clogs are cool.
Raine Suede Heeled Clog
The ’70s vibes are strong with this pair of brown suede clogs from Zodiac. Style them with flared jeans and a puff-sleeved blouse to complete the look.
The Clog
If brown footwear isn’t your thing in the fall, try these black pair of clogs from Everlane instead. Wear ’em with thick socks for extra coziness.
Cowboy Boots
TikTok has made western flair cool again—and not just for street style, either. Cowboy-style boots popped up on the runways at Private Policy and Isabel Marant for Fall/Winter 2021. These new versions are decked-out in studs, fun colorways and luxe metallic finishes galore. Yeehaw!
Show Pony Embellished Boots
These ain’t your normal cowboy boots! Jeffrey Campbell’s Show Pony Embellished Boots will make even your basic OOTD feel elevated.
Bonnie Bootie
Isabel Marant showed silver cowboy boots on the runway and metallic footwear is a big trend this year in its own right, so this gold pair from Chinese Laundry is a must-shop.

Standout Sneakers
Another trend inspired by TikTokers, influencers and street style stars, this look is all about ditching your basic kicks for a pair that feels more special. Go for a fun colorway, unique silhouette or personalized details to shake things up.
Nike Air Force 1 Shadow
Supermodels like Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber have all been spotted in colorful Nikes recently. I’d say this pair of Air Force 1 Shadows would get their seal of approval.
Cruise Rider IWD Sneakers
If you want something even more colorful for the fall, consider this pair of Puma Cruise Rider IWD Sneakers for a cool color-blocked touch.
Platform Power
Brands like Versace, Moschino and Erdem all showed sky-high platforms this season, so it’s time for you to get the look at home. Whether you opt for a colorful heel or a made-for-stomping black boot doesn’t really matter—It’s all about adding those extra inches.
