Step aside, 2019’s over-the-knee boots! There’s a new trend in town, and lug sole boots are absolutely everywhere. Who to thank? The fashion visionaries at Prada, of course. Ever since the brand debuted their Lug Sole Chelsea Boots, all anyone can think about is thick, chunky soles made for stompin’.
That said, I’m usually pretty good about talking myself into an impulse buy, but for $1,150, even I can’t justify these boots at that price. Unless divine intervention somehow places me on Prada’s PR list, I’ll be sticking to dupes this season—and honestly, I doubt anyone will know the difference. Unlike lots of trendy luxury goods, these boots are basically logo-free, so you can get the same look and even ~potentially~ leave people thinking you’re wearing the real ones.
Whether or not you’re trying to pull a Prada dupe, lug sole boots really are a great silhouette to consider for fall and winter. While I love a heel as much as the next gal, I can admit that the idea of a thick-soled, all-terrain flat boot sounds a lot more comfortable. In 2021, we’re all about comfort, are we not? These babies would look as good with leggings and a hoodie as they would with leather pants and a cropped sweater, so they’re definitely a great option for dressing up and down this season.
Below, I’ve rounded up a range of dupes and similar styles to Prada’s pricy pair, from some classic Docs to lug-soled silhouettes that definitely look like Prada from afar. And all for $200 or less! If you do want the real deal, more power to you, but don’t feel like you have to ball out to get a similar look. When it comes to true style, it’s about how you wear it, not what the brand name is!
I hereby give you permission to sell your black suede over-the-knee boots on Poshmark and use the money to buy some lug sole boots instead. Read on for my top picks below.

Monolith Lug Sole Chelsea Boot
If you have a casual $1,150 lying around, you might as well buy the boots that put this trend on the map. These Prada beauties are built to last a lifetime—and darn it, they really are chic.
Jaden Smooth Leather Platform Boot
Docs have been the cool-kid boots of choice preferred by the fashion set for ages now. These have a different vibe than the Pradas, but if a chic-yet-edgy thick-soled boot is what you seek, look no further than the Jaden Smooth Leather Platform Boots.
Vista Chelsea Boot
This pair from Journee Collection has a longer shaft if you’re looking for boots that hit a little above the ankle. Try tucking your jeans into them for a more sleek appearance while you stomp around the city.
Orly Croc-Embossed Leather Bootie
My personal faves this season come from Schutz. The lug sole is so reminiscent of Prada’s, but the chic croc-embossed leather gives them their own unique look.
Verney 2 Chelsea Boot
For a more going-out-friendly bootie with a slightly more subtle lug sole, these patent Naturalizer picks are a great find.
Davina Bootie
Circus by Sam Edelman absolutely nailed the Davina Bootie, the perfect combined silhouette of Chelsea boot meets sock boot meets Prada-esque lug sole.
Sasha Platform Bootie
For a different look with more hardware, these Sasha Booties have a minimalist silver zipper up the front.
Kendy Lug Sole Boot
Another taller option, this time with tinier lug sole teeth and a shiny patent finish. Plus, they also come in a matte cream.
Sahara Lug Sole Chelsea Bootie
These shiny lug-soled Chelsea boots from Steve Madden feel like a cold-weather essential. Plus, that platform adds a ton of extra height!
Lardon Chelsea Boot
Another patent pair (I see a trend forming!), these Mix No. 6 boots are basically rain boots that you can wear even when it’s sunny.
