Chadwick Boseman Won a Posthumous Golden Globe & His Wife’s Speech Brought Us to Tears

An emotional tribute. Chadwick Boseman‘s Golden Globes 2021 speech presented by his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, brought the world to tears.

“He would thank God. He would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices. He would thank his incredible team,” Ledward said in tears as presenter Renee Zellweger looked on crying. “He would say something beautiful, something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice inside of us that tells you you can, that tells you to keep going.”

She continued, “I don’t have his words, but we must take those moments to celebrate those we love. So thank you HFPA for doing just that. And hun, you keep them coming.”

Boseman won a posthumous Golden Globe for his role as Leevee Green in Netflix’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which is based on August Wilson’s play of the same name. The film centers on Ma Rainey (Viola Davis), an influential blues singer in 1920s Chicago. The 78th annual Golden Globe Awards, which were held on Sunday, February 28, were hosted from Los Angeles’ Beverly Hilton Hotel and New York City’s Rainbow Room, with hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler presenting from both coasts.

Boseman’s win comes months after he died at the age of 43 on August 23, 2020, after a four-year battle with colon cancer. Boseman’s family confirmed his death at the time with a tribute on his Instagram. “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.⁣ ⁣ Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV,” the statement read. “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.”

The statement continued, “It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. ⁣ ⁣ He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

Boseman and Ledward, a singer, married in 2020 months before the Black Panther star’s death. The two got engaged in October 2019 and started dating around 2015. At the Gotham Awards in 2021, Ledward paid tribute to her late husband as she accepted the Actor Tribute award on her behalf.

“As an artist, an actor, and a person, Chad made a practice of telling the truth,” she said. “He is the most honest person I’ve ever met…because he didn’t just stop at speaking the truth. He actively searched for it in himself, in those around him and in the moment.”

She continued, “The truth can be a very easy thing for the self to avoid, but if one does not live in truth, then it’s impossible to live in line with the divine purpose for your life..and so it became how he lived his life, day in and out. Imperfect but determined. He was blessed to live many lives in his concentrated life. He harnessed the power of letting go and letting God’s love shine through. Thank you for giving Chad these gifts. It’s an honor to receive this award on behalf of my husband. Chad, thank you. I love you. I am so proud of you. Keep shining your light on us.”

The 78th Golden Globes airs on Sunday, January 28, at 8 p.m. on NBC. Here’s how to watch it for free.

Sarah Hyland Is Wearing This TikTok-Famous Product At The Golden Globes

When you think of Golden Globes glam, probably super-luxe hair and makeup products come to mind. But Sarah Hyland’s Golden Globes’ beauty look for 2021 is actually really affordable. One look at her glam and you’ll realize you don’t need to spend big bucks to look red carpet-ready.

Makeup Artist Allan Avendano is responsible for Hyland’s look, using all E.L.F. Cosmetics products. “Sarah and I wanted to create a classic look that complimented her new auburn tresses,” Avendano said in a statement. “I was inspired to bring warmth and glow to this look to let her radiant skin shine with a sun-kissed complexion, a classic shimmery eye and a nude lip to highlight her features and statement red dress.”

Avendano gave his client that glowy skin with the TikTok-viral E.L.F. Camo CC Cream. Many say it’s a dupe for the It Cosmetics CC cream—maybe even better.

Lily Collins’ Golden Globes Look Was Way Cuter Than Her ‘Emily In Paris’ Wardrobe

As many of you may know, I was simply not a fan of the wardrobe in Emily In Paris. I’m a Patricia Field stan, and I truly believe it was a case of very intentional styling—Emily is annoying AF, and therefore, it’s no surprise her wardrobe is too loud, too trendy, too much. Fortunately, the same can’t be said for Lily Collins’ Golden Globes look, which I totally loved.

I tend to enjoy Collins’ red carpet style, which is more often than not a ladylike gown with a dreamy a-line skirt. However, in Emily In Paris, the show for which she’s nominated, Collins wore everything from poorly-mismatched prints to (shudder) berets, and her commitment to the role and its meh wardrobe paid off. Collins received a nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series, alongside actresses including Kaley Cuoco, Elle Fanning, Jane Levy and Catherine O-Hara.

Of course, this year’s Golden Globes weren’t quite the same as they’ve been in years past, due in large part to coronavirus restrictions. Hosts and presenters appeared live to read off categories and winners, but the nominees stayed home, left to wonder if they’d win from the comforts of their couches. Only when they cut to the stars’ homes could we see outfit sneak peaks.

Which brings me to Collins’ Golden Globes look—I could only see the top part of her gown thanks to her nominee video call-in, but I could tell it was a good one. This is Collins’ second time at the Globes, so talk about making an impact. She was only on the screen for a moment, but the internet is already lighting up over this outfit—and for good reason! Collins stunned in her colorful, one-shoulder Saint Laurent printed gown.

lily collins in saint laurent golden globes 2021 2 jpg 1614565975 Lily Collins Golden Globes Look Was Way Cuter Than Her Emily In Paris Wardrobe

Courtesy of Saint Laurent.

Collins is no stranger to a sexy Saint Laurent dress or two. The luxury brand has been one of her favorites while on the press tour for her new movie, Mank, so it makes sense that she would wear the legendary french brand for her nomination.

While I loved the one-shoulder design, the part I loved the most was the daring cutout on the side. And if the dress wasn’t stunning enough, Collins also donned a pair of bold gold hoop earrings and a blingy orange cuff bracelet with a matching ring. Her beauty look matched her disco-inspired vibes, with voluminous curls, a brown smokey eye and a deep blood-red lip.

Personally, I’m a fan of the look, but again: Anything beats her Emily In Paris wardrobe. That said, I’m not the only one excited to hate-watch the show when Season Two rolls around. EIP was approved for a second season back in November 2020 and although fans don’t know filming deets due to pandemic restrictions, we’re all hoping to make fun of Emily again very, very soon.

Until then, I’ll settle for cheering on the lovely Lily Collins. You looked fab, babe!

Here’s How to Stream ‘Schitt’s Creek’ For Free if You Don’t Have Netflix

After its wins at the Golden Globes and Emmys, you may be wondering how to watch Schitt’s Creek online for free.

The Pop TV comedy, which won the network its first Emmys, took home seven awards at the 72nd annual Primetime Emmys on September 20 (plus two more from the Creative Arts Emmys earlier that week.) T Among Schitt’s Creek‘s wins were acting awards for stars Dan Levy (Outstanding Supporting Actor), Annie Murphy (Outstanding Supporting Actress), Catherine O’Hara (Outstanding Lead Actress) and Eugene Levy (Outstanding Lead Actor), as well as an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for Schitt’s Creek‘s final season, which aired in 2020. The show also took home awards for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.

“Our show, at its core, is about the transformational effects of love and acceptance, and that is something that we need more of now than we’ve ever needed before. And I just wanted to say, for any of you who have not registered to vote, please do so, and then go out and vote,” Dan said while accepting the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. “Because that is the only way that we’re going to have some love and acceptance out there.”

That success continued at the 78th Golden Globe Awards on February 28, where the comedy took home accolades such as Best Musical or Comedy and Best Actress.

If you haven’t seen Schitt’s Creek (or want to rewatch it), read on for ways to binge-watch it—including some free options.

How to watch Schitt’s Creek season 6

Amazon: Schitt’s Creek‘s Emmys were for its final season—season 6—which aired from January to April 2020. Though Schitt’s Creek is available to stream for free elsewhere (more on that later), the easiest way to watch season 6 is by purchasing the episodes or the season on Amazon. All 15 episodes cost $2.99 each or Amazon users can purchase the entire final season for $16.99, which would save around $28 from purchasing the episodes individually.

Buy: Watch 'Schitt's Creek' on Amazon $16.99

AT&T TV: However, there is a way to watch Schitt’s Creek season 6 for free if you don’t want to purchase the season on Amazon. Schitt’s Creek‘s final season is available to stream on Pop TV if you have a cable provider. AT&T TV is one of the cable providers that Pop TV accepts, and the service provides a seven-day free trial for new customers. So, if you’re only in for Schitt’s Creek, you can sign up for the free trial, watch season 6 and cancel the trial before you’re charged $55 a month. After you sign up for AT&T TV’s free trial, click here to watch season 6 on Pop TV’s website.

How to watch Schitt’s Creek for free

Netflix: There are three ways to watch Schitt’s Creek for free if you just want watch the first five seasons. The first, of course, is Netflix, which critics often credit for popularizing Schitt’s Creek among fans. The first five seasons of Schitt’s Creek is available to stream on Netflix, and the service also provides a one-month free trial, so fans can binge-watch Schitt’s Creek and cancel before they’re charged.

PopTV.com: The website for Pop TV, the network that aired Schitt’s Creek, also has the first five seasons of Schitt’s Creek (as well as its holiday special) available to stream. No sign up is necessary. (Fans can also stream season 6 of Schitt’s Creek on Pop TV, but they will need a cable provider. Read our AT&T section for how to sign up for a free trial and watch season 6 for free on PopTV.com.) The only downside of Pop TV is that there are ads, but hey, free is free.

CW Seed: CW Seed, The CW’s streaming service, also has the first five seasons of Schitt’s Creek available to stream. However, like Pop TV, there are ads. But if you don’t want to pay or don’t have the means to sign up for a free trial somewhere, this is one of your best bets to binge-watch Schitt’s Creek after its Emmy wins.

Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban Gave a Rare Look of Their Kids at the Golden Globes

Fans were surprised to see Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s kids at the Golden Globes 2021. The Undoing alum and the country singer’s two daughters—Sunday Rose, 12, and Faith Margaret, 10—made a rare appearance at the 78th annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, February 28.

Faith and Sunday were seen as cameras cut to Kidman and Urban during hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey’s monologue, which aired on both coasts from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and the Rainbow Room in New York City. Kidman was nominated at the 2021 Golden Globes for her role as Grace Fraser in HBO’s The Undoing, which follows a psychologist whose husband is on trial for the murder of a woman he had an affair with.

The Undoing was a sexy and dramatic mystery where Nicole Kidman’s coat is suspected of murdering her wig,” Fey and Poehler joked during their monologue.

In an interview with the New York Times in October 2020, Kidman—who also shares daughter Isabella, 28, and son Connor, 26, with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise—talked her parenting style with her youngest daughters. “We never leave the kids, one of us is always there,” she said. “My sister’s staying over and my mum’s helping; I don’t have that help in Nashville so that’s been incredible. When Keith went to Nashville and I had to work late nights, I rang Ant and asked her to move in with the girls and she did, and brought along her kids.”

Instagram PhotoSource: Instagram

She continued, “That’s special. It’s the nature of what we’re all having to do now—you get to be commune-like; this extended family where you’re all raising each other’s kids together. We’ve all had to go back to basics, and this year has required it because people are pleading for help.”

Kidman told the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in 2018 about why she often doesn’t talk about her eldest children with Cruise, whom she divorced in 2001 after 11 years of marriage. “I’m very private about all that,” she said. “I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150 per cent that I would give up my life for my children because it’s what my purpose is.”

The 78th Golden Globes airs on Sunday, February 28, at 8 p.m. on NBC. Here’s how to watch it for free.

Tiffany Haddish Sparkled Brighter Than Anyone Else At The Golden Globes

Awards season is my favorite season, even if it all looks a little different in 2021. Yes, this year’s Golden Globes were pretty virtual-attendee-heavy, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t also great! Before I had the chance get too bummed-out about yet another virtual ceremony, Tiffany Haddish’s 2021 Golden Globes look brightened up my whole evening with a little glitz and glimmer. Leave it to one of the funniest women in Hollywood to remind me that, at the end of the day, fashion is supposed to be fun!

Remember back when Tiffany Haddish would wear the same white gown over and over again? She wore it to four different appearances, proving that you can always find an occasion to over-dress. Her $4,000 Alexander McQueen frock cemented Haddish as a total fashion icon in my eyes, so I don’t want to hear anyone coming for me about wearing the same pair of sweatpants more than one day in a row, okay? Glad we could clear that up.

Back to the Globes fashion: Haddish joined other presenters like Kristen Wiig, Awkwafina and Cynthia Erivo to present the Globes IRL while the nominees themselves stayed safe at home. Haddish, who was styled by none other than Law Roach, rocked a blingy look by Alberta Ferretti. It kind of gave me soda can tab realness, but in the best way. I loved the notched neckline and body-hugging silhouette! The dress itself had a bodysuit underneath but was mostly see-through, so Haddish’s long legs were especially on display. Ooh la la!

STYLECATER | Tiffany Haddish Golden Globes

Courtesy of Christopher Polk/NBC).

Haddish accessorized her bold gown with simple black pumps and some detailed silver hoops, and her super-short hairshe shaved her head back in June, ICYMI—was bleached blonde, a new look I absolutely adored. TBH, it was proof she really can pull off anything. We stan a versatile beauty queen! And of course, her glam was on point with skin glowing for the gods.

All in all, I’m glad Haddish was one of the celebs who got to make an IRL appearance this year. Remember when the red carpet fashion actually took place on, you know, a real-life red carpet? I miss those days. Still, it seems our fave celeb stylists aren’t slowing down despite the lack of opportunities to dress their clients. Law Roach really snapped with this look; he must’ve been saving it for just the right night for Haddish to slay!

While we’re all sat at home due to some (very necessary!) pandemic precautions, let us be thankful for the killer looks we’re able to experience during this very strange awards season. Haddish might not have any Golden Globes of her own at home, but this look is a real winner in my book. TBH, I wouldn’t be mad if this becomes the second look she wears over and over again. It’s that good!

Here’s How to Watch ‘Minari’ Online to Not Miss This Year’s Big Picture Contender

If you’re an awards buff, you may want to know how to watch Minari online to not miss one of 2021’s most popular big picture contenders.

Minari, which premiered on February 12, 2021, stars Steven Yeun, Han Ye-ri, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho and Yuon Yuh-jung as members of an immigrant South Korean family as they try to make it in rural America in the 1980s.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in February, Yeun, who is also an executive producer in the film, opened up about what it was like to star in Minari as a Korean American. “We were trying to tell the story of, ‘What’s it like when you wake up and you just are?’—which is how I wake up,” he said. “I don’t really wake up being like, ‘I’m a Korean-American person living in a white American world.’ I’m just like, ‘I’m up now. What do I want to eat?’

He continued, “When we ignored the literal parameters, it unveiled a more truthful humanity: a story about a father, and a mother, and a family, and a son, and a grandmother, and about hardship, and about perseverance, and about faith and hope and what it takes to continue on in this difficult life.”

Though Minari was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 78th Golden Globes (due to an outdated—and racist—language rule), it’s predicted as one of the 2021 Oscars Best Picture contenders. Ahead is how to watch Minari online.

Unfortunately, Minari isn’t available to stream for free. However, there are still several ways to rent it for costs ranging from $18 to $20. Find out how to watch Minari online ahead.

Our Golden Globes Best Dressed List Is Longer Than Expected—See Every Look Here

Another semi-virtual award show has come and gone, and we’re left to reminisce on the few 2021 Golden Globes fashion moments that really wowed. Don’t get me wrong—everyone looked great, it’s just that “everyone” wasn’t all that many people! Nominees were required to stay home instead of attending in person, so it was up to the hosts and presenters to really serve us some Best Dressed List-worthy looks.

This year’s show featured two hosts—comedy icons and BFF goals Tina Fay and Amy Poehler, and along with these lovely ladies, there were a slew of famous celebs on hand to read off nominees and present the awards. Kate Hudson, Cynthia Erivo, Awkwafina and Margot Robbie were just some of the stars in attendance and of course, they all looked lovely.

Do I miss the days of hours-long in-person red carpet pre-shows? Of course I do! Award shows are my fashion Super Bowl; I rely on award show season to bless me with some of the most memorable celeb fashion moments of the year. That said, pandemic precautions have dramatically changed the classic award show rubric, so hundreds of Hollywood’s most beloved celebs can no longer sit side-by-side in one room super-spreading their germs.

That said, there were still some great fashion moments at this year’s Golden Globes, from  the hosts, presenters and nominees alike, so I’m here to celebrate them. Below, read on for every great look you might’ve missed.

Elle Fanning Is Serving Goddess Vibes In Gucci At The Golden Globes

Much to my surprise, tons of celebs ended up dressing up to tune into this year’s Zoom Awards—I mean, Golden Globes. Exhibit A? Elle Fanning may not actually be at the Golden Globes this year, but the socially-distanced show didn’t stop the actress from donning a show-stopping gown to commemorate the occasion. Actually, Elle Fanning’s Golden Globe 2021 look is one of my favorites of the entire night. Who says that virtual shows can’t have some pretty killer fashion?

I miss the days when red carpet looks actually took place on the red carpet, but with only the hosts, presenters and a few nominees attending IRL this year, mots celebs had to dress up and enjoy the night from home. That said, they still served looks! To celebrate the official start of awards season, Fanning “showed up” in a stunning custom mint green silk Gucci gown—via her Instagram, that is.

In a series of just pics posted to her ‘Gram, Fanning looked every bit a queen in her look. “Dressed up for a night in for the @goldenglobes Thank you to my beautiful hair and makeup team on the show @erinayanianmonroe and @glynnlorraine They transform me into Catherine every day on set and are a part of this special day!” Fanning captioned the photos. Consider me royally impressed. Fanning is nominated for her performance in The Great, but I would have to say that this look is more than just great. It’s pretty damn amazing.

STYLECASTER | Elle Fanning Golden Globes

I don’t love the expression “fits like a glove,” but call her a hand, this thing really does fit like a glove! Satin isn’t always the easiest fabric to rock, but Fanning is an absolute dream in it, and this minty hue really suits her complexion. In addition to the actual gown, her accessories are seriously worth mentioning, too—Fanning was literally dripping in Fred Leighton diamonds.

STYLECASTER | Elle Fanning Golden Globes

Fanning completed the look with a pair of Gucci platform sandals, but kept her beauty look super striking and classic. Her hair was pulled into a tight bun and her skin was glowing with that first-time-nominee radiance. We really love to see it!

I honestly expected Fanning to wear a more traditional gown to the awards, but this one has the perfect blend of retro flair and modern goddess to suit her young, fun energy. And what can I say, I’m a sucker for the detailing at the waist and the embroidered crystal brooches! So luxe. I also just love the little sash that made the whole gown ripe for dramatic posing. Quick, somebody carve this moment in stone to preserve it forever! It’s just that perfect.

Bravo to Gucci for making Elle one of the best-dressed celebs of the night without her even having to attend the show IRL. Now that’s power.

Allow Me To Give Cynthia Erivo’s Golden Globes Look The Green Light

This year, the Golden Globes looked a little, well, different—and by that, I mean a good chunk of the award show was completely virtual. Nominees weren’t able to attend in-person, so it was up to the live presenters to serve all the fashion. Luckily, Cynthia Erivo’s Golden Globes look was better than a full-on pre-show red carpet.

Although Erivo isn’t nominated for a Golden Globe this year, our queen has won an Emmy, a Tony and a Grammy, so she’s no stranger to award show victories. That said, tonight Erivo took the stage to present an award to someone else, although she still ended up stealing the show in the process. No surprise there; Erivo has become quite the fashion icon over the past few years. Who could forget her dramatic white gown and Starry Night-inspired nails from last year’s Grammys!

And of course, her look for last year’s in-person Golden Globes was equally stellar. Erivo wore a custom black Thom Brown gown with white collar detailing. That said, she was nominated for two awards last year—Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for Harriet, as well as Best Original Song in a Motion Picture for Harriet’s “Stand Up.” I wasn’t sure if she’d dress down this year, seeing as she wasn’t nominated, but I should’ve known a fashion icon like Erivo would still rise to the occasion.

This year, Erivo wowed in a lime green a-line dress from Valentino’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection. How freaking fabulous! She styled it with mirror-like platform heels and long satin gloves, plus glitzy round earrings, a statement nose ring and a pop of purple liner to top it all off. How chic! So many celebs tend to go classic for award shows, so I love that Erivo is bold enough to go funky with this fun Valentino piece.

Everyone who attended this year’s Golden Gloves (IRL or virtually) looked amazing, but like I said earlier, our queen went all out for us! And given that award shows have been so dull thanks to (necessary!) pandemic precautions, I couldn’t be more grateful. Here’s hoping Erivo and other celebs can walk a real red carpet (safely!) sometime soon, but until then, this slay will certainly hold me over.

The Most Pin-Worthy Beauty Looks at the 2021 Golden Globes

The Golden Globes is a strange award show. We’re almost never happy with the winners, probably because the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is an entirely white group that’s pretty out of touch with today’s TV and movies. We’re also in the middle of a pandemic and the whole thing can feel kind of silly. But—and this is a big but—sometimes you need a little silly. We need a moment right now to drool over gorgeous 2021 Golden Globes beauty looks and dream of a time when we’ll be recreating them—even if just for Instagram.

So, sit back and watch hosts are Tina Fey and Amy Poehler poke fun at the night, while saving these swoon-worthy hair and makeup looks. Because stars did not come to play, whether hitting a smaller red carpet or just from home. Possibly because we’ve all been home for year, fashion is more playful and makeup looks are a lot more fun. We can also use it right now.

Our mission at STYLECASTER is to bring style to the people, and we only feature products we think you’ll love as much as we do. Please note that if you purchase something by clicking on a link within this story, we may receive a small commission of the sale.

Amanda Seyfried’s Golden Globes Gown Takes Florals To A Whole New Level

I wasn’t sure whether or not Amanda Seyfried would make an IRL appearance at this year’s Golden Globes, but our girl showed up and showed out—in fact, she’s serving full-on springtime Mother Nature realness! The lack of IRL award shows over the past 12 months have really made me miss seeing my faves on the red carpet, so it’s nice to see her all dolled up and looking beaut!

There was no real red carpet this year thanks to pandemic precautions limiting the number of attendees, but Amanda Seyfried’s Golden Globes look still slayed. Only the hosts, presenters and a few nominees made real-life appearances while others tuned in from their homes, so those who did attend were sure to do the most to give us fashion-lovers something to talk about. Cue Seyfried in ODLR! In a video with E!, she spilled the tea on her look—or rather, raved about how much she loved it.

“I am wearing a beautiful Oscar De La Renta gown. The reason I love this so much is because of the flowers,” Seyfried told E! in the video. “It’s very floral, it’s very sunny and springy and it makes me very happy to wear it, and I feel really glamorous and it’s beautiful.” What she said! It really is the perfect springy gown and the peachy-pink hue looks incredible on her.

Of course, the show-stopping neckline is the very best part, with fabric flowers starting at the sleeves and trailing all around the back of the dress. The rest of the silhouette is fairly straight and simple, with just a sliiiiight train for a little extra drama. Seyfried paired the dress with drop earrings, a necklace and a bracelet by Jaeger-LeCoultre. As for glam, she wore side-parted Old Hollywood-inspired waves (an awards show fave hairstyle for many, as we all know), smoky eyes and a strong contour.

Seyfried may not be as public as celebs who post anything and everything on social media 24/7, but she’s still one of my faves to see on a red carpet. Girl knows how to serve a look, too—remember that gorg yellow gown from her The Art Of Racing In The Rain premiere?! Don’t sleep on Seyfried’s style, y’all! She’s been on the scene for so long and she’s still one to nail it every time.

As I type this, it’s rainy in New York City, so I’m grateful to Seyfried for bringing me some cheery, springtime vibes! Tonight, I’ve got my fingers crossed she takes home the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in Mank, but win or lose, she still wins a spot on my Best Dressed list thanks to this peachy Oscar De La Renta dream of a dress. Shout out to the stars serving looks to make up for the lack of real red carpet; those of us watching from home really appreciate it. Here’s hoping next time we can see them all slay on the carpet in person.

I Totally Thought Margot Robbie Was Wearing Arm Socks To The Golden Globes

These days, award show fashion feels like a distant memory. With most shows going virtual due to pandemic precautions (which, of course, are important and necessary) it feels like I’ll never get to watch a pre-show red carpet again. That said, this year’s Golden Globes did have a few live presenters, and Margot Robbie’s look was so good, I’m willing to give her her very own Best Dressed list.

With the nominees forced to stay home during the night’s celebrations, it was up to the Golden Globes’ hosts and presenters to provide all the fashion fodder. For this reason, the Globes rounded up some of Hollywood’s most notable fashion players to present, from Kate Hudson to Cynthia Erivo to our very own Margot Robbie.

In the past, Robbie has won two Golden Globes: Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for Bombshell in 2020, and Best Actress In a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture for I, Tonya in 2018. Tonight, though, she took to the stage to present an award to someone else—although in my opinion, she was still the big winner of the night. Her look deserved all the awards!

https://twitter.com/TheFilmUpdates/status/1366165941986361344

Always impeccably dressed, Robbie arrived at the Globes wearing a dress from the Chanel Spring/Summer 2021 runway. The look was a black gown with ditsy white floral print that gave a polka-dotty look from far away, and the silhouette was especially unique, with a tiered skirt, high leg slit, black belt to cinch the waist, ruffled neckline and both spaghetti straps and off-the-shoulder long sleeves that kind of remind me of the arm socks I used to wear from Limited Too in my youth. But, like, in a chic way. Her glam featured super minimal eye makeup and dewy, and her iconic bouncy blonde locks were worn short in casual waves. Her side part may not be Gen Z-approved, but it looked beautiful.

Pun tied to last year’s win intended, Robbie looked like a total bombshell. And good thing, too, because her 2020 Golden Globes look was kind of a letdown. Her beaded Chanel bustier—which, apparently, took 225 hours to make—didn’t really do it for me, especially paired with a simple white satin skirt. I don’t want to be a hater because she’s served so many fire looks in the past, but that one just didn’t ~wow~ me. You know?

That said, it looks like Robbie has redeemed herself with this year’s slay and I couldn’t be happier about it. Long live my fave blonde fashionista!

Watch Carey Mulligan in Revenge Thriller ‘Promising Young Woman’ Online

Carey Mulligan’s turn as vengeful Cassie has received rave reviews from the critics. Even though this is a relatively new release, you can watch Promising Young Woman online from your couch.

Buy: Rent 'Promising Young Woman' on Amazon Prime Video $19.99

Promising Young Woman follows Cassandra, whose life has gone astray due to a tragedy in her past. She’s aimless, nearly 30, living at home with her parents and a medical school dropout. Despite pressure from those around her, she stays ambition-less and bored.

When she isn’t working at the coffee shop with her manager (Laverne Cox), she spends her time at bars, dangling herself as prey to men. Cassie pretends to pass out in the bar drunk, and men try to look decent by taking her home. When whatever guy tries to take advantage of her, she snaps awake, stone-cold sober to deliver them a reminder about consent. She has a reason as to why her sole focus is on this revenge plot, but you can watch the movie to find out why.

Alison Brie, Bo Burnham, Adam Brody Connie Britton, Alfred Molina and Christopher Lowell also appear in the film.

Promising Young Woman is the splashy directorial debut of Emerald Fennell. She wrote for the series Killing Eve, so it’s not surprising that she navigates dark comedy and difficult subjects deftly. The Crown fans might also recognize Fennell, because she played Camilla Parker Bowles. The movie is produced by Margot Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap Entertainment. LuckyChap has also produced I, Tonya and Birds of Prey.
